Understanding HIV / Aids For Community Health Workers

NEW DATE:
Friday, January 17 | 12 - 1 PM | Virtual

This specialized training equips community health workers with essential knowledge and skills to effectively educate and support their communities about HIV/AIDS. Key learning objectives include:

  • Explaining what HIV and AIDS are in clear, community-friendly terms.
  • Understanding how HIV affects the body.
  • Identifying three ways HIV can be transmitted.
  • Discussing recommendations for HIV testing and the importance of early detection.
  • Listing at least four behaviors that increase the risk of acquiring HIV.
  • Describing strategies to prevent the spread of HIV, including prevention methods and harm reduction practices.


This is a virtual training free for NMPHA members. Attendees can request CEUs for CHWs and Behavior Health Paraprofessionals. For more information, please email Paloma Flores at paloma.flores@nmpha.org.
