Stay on Point: How to Infuse Your Communications with an Agenda to Advance Racial and Health Equity
The stories and messages we hear in the media have both the power to explain and justify the status quo and the power to spark and encourage change. And yet, we struggle to assert our narratives and voices into news coverage. We believe that health equity advocates must use strategic communications and media outreach to lift our agendas above the noise and clutter. In this webinar, you will learn how to sharpen your strategic communications to amplify and accelerate your work to remove structural and institutional forms of racism that damage health and well-being and advance systems and policy change to provide health and safety for everyone. Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to • Describe how an overall strategy drives communications for their ongoing racial and health equity work. • Explain the components of a message strategy and how it can support racial and health equity by, for example, helping new messengers become effective sources for reporters. • Identify next steps for developing a media strategy that advances racial justice and health equity, including tracking news coverage and working with reporters.
