Keynote Speaker
Will Haar, MPH, MSW
Will Haar works with Prevention Institute’s Transformation Health Systems team. Will is helping to lead efforts for healthcare and community prevention to work together to advance a system that addresses the community-level factors that keep people from being healthy and safe through Prevention Institute’s Community Centered Health Homes: Bridging the gap between health services and community prevention (CCHH) framework. Will promotes the development of policies and payment mechanisms to support CCHH and is working to implement initiatives across the country for community and rural health centers to adopt Community-Centered Health Homes practices.
About the Forum:
The NMPHA Annual Health Policy Legislative Forum provides a unique opportunity for organizations and individuals working to improve community health to come together, learn, discuss timely issues, and share their legislative proposals for the upcoming legislative session. Organizations are given a chance to make brief statements about their legislative proposals, and a booklet containing summary information about their proposals is distributed widely. Participants can identify allies and possible collaborators, as well as request support from NMPHA and other participating organizations.
Highlights of the 2015 Forum include:
Our morning panel will include a panel of freshman legislators sharing their experience at the legislature. We will have a presentation and update about the State Innovation Model work as well as the presentation of legislative proposals.
Our keynote speaker, Larry Cohen, is the founder and Executive Director of the Prevention Institute and has spearheaded the Community Centered Health Home as well as the Accountable Communities for Health.
Afternoon breakout sessions, to feature workshops on the Affordable Care Act, Violence and Public Health, Health Policy 101, and many more!
